Proof of practice driving

When you have completed the basic traffic course, you will receive a certificate that gives you the right to practice driving. You must bring the certificate and approved photo identification with you both when taking driving lessons at the traffic school and when you practice driving privately. The certificate can also be found on www.vegvesen.no under Your page. A printout or photo of the certificate from the website is not valid as evidence if you are stopped during a traffic control while practicing driving; you must log in and show the website. You can of course also show the paper version of the certificate that you have received from the Norwegian Public Roads Administration. When you log in to Your page, you will also see how far you have come in your driver training.

When is the certificate valid?

Once you have completed the basic traffic course, there is no time limit on the certificate as long as the rules do not change. If you take the course between March 16 and October 31 without completing the dark driving test, you must check your certificate to see when in the year, or for how long in the future, it is valid. On the online certificate in Your page, you can easily see whether dark driving has been completed and whether the certificate is valid or not.

Have you lost your proof?

Log in to vegvesen.no/dinside and find your certificate there. You can also contact a traffic station to have a new one sent to you.

Are you over 25 years old?

Then you are exempt from parts of the basic traffic course, and can drive without a practice driving license. Always remember to carry your ID with you. First aid and dark driving are mandatory for everyone. So you must complete them. Dark driving can be completed after the driving test if you take the driving test between March 16 and October 31.
